A Local Favorite Restaurant: Another Broken Egg Cafe

On “Happy Days”, it was Arnold’s.  On “90210”, it was The Peach Pit.  On “Friends”, it was Central Perk.  On “Cheers”, well obviously.  You get the idea.  There’s always a hangout.  When we were in our 20’s, Bob’s Big Boy was our spot.  We’d meet our friends for late night snacks and stories.  Lots of good memories there.  But as we got older and our days started earlier and earlier, we couldn’t frequent Bob’s as often.

After a few years of jumping around to different weekend breakfast spots, Paul and I finally tried Another Broken Egg Cafe.  It’s about 20 minutes walking distance from our condo and they are only open from 7am-2pm for breakfast/brunch/lunch.  Since they specialize in morning meals, it’s a select menu, and it’s pretty darn good. It has become one of our favorite Saturday traditions as a family.

Try getting there before 10am, because that’s when the line starts.  On a nice day, I highly recommend taking advantage of their patio seating.  It’s wide open and shady.  The passing cars can also mask the shouts of a noisy 2 year old, if you have that problem.  As far as food goes, I’ve liked everything on the menu that I’ve tried, except the grits.  I had never had grits before and I learned that I do not like them.  My favorite dish is the Huevos Rancheros.  And when I want something on the healthier side, they have a great Quinoa, fruit & granola bowl.  Pour a little coconut milk on it and it’s good to go.  The standard breakfast is yummy too.

After we eat, we usually stop at the water fountain and let Stevie splash around, because we are just those people.  And then we walk over to the Farmer’s Market on our way home to get fresh fruits and veggies for the week.

Another Broken Egg Cafe might not be considered our hangout just yet, but it’s getting up there on our list of favorites.  If you have to be awake at the butt crack of dawn on a Saturday, ya might as well make it worth your while.  Did I mention they have a bar?
