It's Beginning to Look a Tiny Bit Like Christmas

I’ve always felt that there are two types of people in the world.  Those who looooove Christmas, and those who just tolerate it.  I’ve always considered myself a big fan, but I do have a confession to make.

For the past 4 years or so, my Christmas cheer has been barely peeking it’s nose out to see what’s going on. It has not been engaging in all the possible Christmas festivities.  Sure, I’ll drag my husband out to look at Christmas lights.  And have the annual holiday party with our friends.  And send out our Christmas cards (which are hilarious this year, by the way!)  But it’s almost a front.  Like I’m supposed to enjoy the holidays, so look at all the stuff I’m doing!

Behind closed doors, it was a bit different.  For two years in a row, I didn’t even decorate our house.  Last year, I threw away nearly every Christmas decoration I had collected over the years because I was just sick of storing them.  I didn’t feel like watching A Christmas Story.  I mean, these are signs that you are a tolerater and not a lover.  It is basically Grinch-worthy behavior.

So this year I am trying.  I really want to enjoy the holiday season.  It always comes and goes so quickly.  And once it’s gone, it makes me sad.  I already started feeling like a slacker the day after Thanksgiving, when Instagram got flooded with Christmas tree photos.  But I still got my stuff up a good 3 weeks before Christmas. So that is a start.  It’s minimal – just a little corner, really – but it looks pretty.  And gives the house that cozy feel.  If I could keep the rest of the joint clean, now that would be a Christmas miracle.

Who else is ready for Christmas?  And who’s not?!

Do you like how the TV is the center of it all?  I do.

Really just adore my nativity scene.

Tinsel tree is from Target last year. The blurry light picture everyone takes when they get a new camera.  I’ve had my camera
for 6+ years and I still do it.  Just something about the twinkly bokeh-ish lights, I guess.

Stevie’s feelin’ it.

About the only outside decorating I can do.  One bonus of living in a condo.
No ladders to put up Christmas lights.
