Balboa Island in Newport Beach

Once in awhile, Paul has to work weekends.  And when he doesn’t, it seems like I do!  Weekends where we just relax are pretty rare these days.

This particular weekend, he had a real estate shoot.  I wouldn’t normally go with him, but we figured since it was in beautiful Newport Beach, he could quickly shoot the house while Stevie & I occupied ourselves for an hour.  Then we’d all grab a nice little lunch somewhere special and call it a day.

Stevie & I dropped off the huz at the property and started driving around.  I enjoyed looking at all the luxurious homes.  The whole city is like a resort.  Just beautiful.  Once we started getting close to Corona del Mar beach, I thought “OK, I’ve been there too many times.  We need to check out something new.”  So we stumbled upon Balboa Island.  I know I’ve heard of it before, but I had never been.

I crossed over the bridge and immediately started smiling from ear to ear.  In fact, I even gasped at some of the adorable homes.  This was my kind of town!  So quaint with kitschy shops and eateries, and of course the canal where you can swim, paddle board, kayak, boat, etc. Looked perfect as a place to kill some time. Unfortunately, the property Paul was shooting turned out to be much bigger than we thought, and of course took much longer than we anticipated, so we missed spending time with him.  But I’m very glad I got to explore a bit.  Stevie and I mostly just walked around.  As long as he was content, so was I!

I think he made that face on purpose.
