Cousin Day at Disneyland: The Photos

I know I keep referring to it as the worst day ever.  The truth is it was just like every other day.  Tantrums every five minutes.  Incessant nagging.  Screaming and frustration.  But it felt so much worse because we were at freakin DISNEYLAND.  I mean, there were time-outs next to Pirates of the Caribbean, begging and pleading with him in New Orleans Square to please just be good,  laying on the ground right there in the middle of Tomorrowland. Not to mention he cried on nearly every ride.  And I mean cried like he was having his toes removed one by one.

God, I wanted it to be dreamy.  I wanted Stevie to have the best day ever.  I wanted him to feel excited.  I wanted those magical moments so bad that it makes my stomach hurt.

I told Stevie’s therapist that I keep replaying the day over and over in mind, thinking about all those things I would have done differently and she told me “There is nothing you could have done.  You did your best. You can’t predict how Stevie is going to act, no matter how much you prepare.  And once things went downhill, they were never coming back up.  You probably should have just taken a Xanax.”

Well I couldn’t agree more!  Haha.

So I could sit here and be sad (which I kind of was all day Monday) but like I told Paul when he left for work this morning – we’ve made it this far.  We’ll get through one more day.  So instead of continuing my complaining, let’s talk about the highlights of our Disney day, shall we?

  • Stevie got to meet Mater!  And every time he talks about it, he remembers that Mater honked at him.  Really cute.
  • Cousin Gavin.  Oh little cousin Gavin!  He was fantastic with Stevie, trying to keep Stevie with the group and keep him entertained as much as he could.  Sweet little guy.
  • Stevie really enjoyed running and jumping around with his cousins on Main Street.
  • Stevie slept through lunch, so Paul and I very much enjoyed our filet mignon chili cheeseburgers in silence.
  • Dumbo!  Of course!  Stevie loved going “up high”.
  • Stevie got a Lightning McQueen button and Mickey Mouse sticker that he thought were pretty cool.
  •  The Storybook Land canal boats where Stevie was content, and we made enough dirty jokes that the boat operator was cracking up.
  • The other kids were so good and cute!
  • Family time obviously.  Love you guys.
  • We were in bed early.
