Halloween Wrap-up

Well, hello November.  Oh and yes, hello to you too 5:30am because of the time change.  How long is that wake-up time going to be in effect?

Halloween was good.  Stevie still didn’t totally get it, but this year was a lot easier.  Therefore making it more fun than years past.  And he looked bloody cute, let’s not forget.

Ya know, I can’t say I blame him for being a little confused!  We were out there walking around, in the dark, at night, in the middle of the street, BOTHERING THE NEIGHBORS, and somehow getting rewarded for it with candy.  He had that WTF look on his face a lot of the time.

He was very excited to go to school in his costume and ran straight up to his teacher and shouted “STEVIE EINSTEIN!” pointing to his sweater.  My heart grew 10 times larger.  After school, he ran out wearing a spider hat that he made and said “MOM!  Iger hat on!” and hugged me excitedly.  My heart grew 10 times larger again.  He had therapy after school and struggled as usual.  Quite a few battles. Heart back to normal size.

It’s an emotional roller coaster with these dang kids.

After his nap, we hauled butt to the “pumpkin park” and that was sort of a bust.  The hours online were different than their actual hours, so after driving 45 minutes to get there, they were like “so, yeah… we are closed…”  They were nice enough to let us come in and walk around a little bit and I’ve never seen a pumpkin patch so empty! Stevie got a kick out of the horses and donkeys.  But on the way out, I asked him which pumpkin he wanted and he just screamed “NO!” and ran out the gate.  So, ok.  Easier for me, I guess.

We headed out for the main event as it got dark.  He did really well practicing his “GICKA GEET!!” and said it at a handful of houses. Last year he said it at zero, so I was happy to see the improvement.  We visited the grandparents and then stopped by to see some friends.  That was his favorite part.  They have a dog.  And they gave him lollipops.  And they poured the grown-ups a glass of wine.  I guess that was my favorite part too.

The rest of the weekend was not lacking in goodness.  Paul and I met up with friends for our favorite haunted houses and alcohol and belly laughs.  I helped a pal on a fall photo shoot.  Stevie took a long nap.  Heck, I took a long nap. And watched a movie, sorta.  A nice mix of fun and relaxation.

November, what you got in store for me? Let’s make it a good one.
