Spring Adventuring: Part 3

The rest of my music for the trip would just be a big fat rip-off of John Mayer’s Paradise Valley. That blues-y feel was perfect for every situation in the South.  The album was on heavy rotation this trip (also since I’ve been home) and frankly, I wouldn’t be able to come up with anything better.

So.  Georgia vacation; Day 2: It was like a sweet dream.  The air was heavy. Hot, sticky and summer vacation worthy.  I thought I would hate it.  But I loved it.  I don’t think I could love it for long, but for this trip, it had to be.  I felt like I was in a good Southern novel, where the Southern weather and the Southern mood were described perfectly, much more eloquently than anything I could write.  I was able to let go of my stress and just live in it.  The moments were long and good.  I relished in the thick breath of the trees. Spanish moss draped the scene and the historic vibe was killing it. We walked around the city, like a bunch of silly kids with drinks in hand.  Laughing and hanging on each other and just having the most fun.

We had the bomb.com lunch at a little hole in the wall called Zunzi’s. Everyone in Savannah knows Zunzi’s.  They all says its the best.  And they aren’t lying.  Like once you’ve had Zunzi’s, you’re kind of grateful you don’t live near one.  Because you’d probably be 500 pounds.  We enjoyed it immensely.

We took a little detour to Broughton Street and the boys let me peak in the Marc Jacobs store before stopping for a beer at World of Beer.  We met up with a friend of a friend and then rolled on over to the Bohemian Hotel for more snacks and drinks on the rooftop bar. Overlooking the river on one side and the city on the other, it was a perfect place to get some shade and share some stories.  Followed by Wet Willie’s and free freshly made candy samples all along the riverfront… Boy, we were one happy group of people.  Everything was fantastically perfect.

Later that night, we met up with more friends and went on a ghost tour.  With Savannah being the most haunted city in America and all, you kind of have to do it.  It was creepy and fun and of course I got scared a couple times.  Even after it was over.

I could not have asked for a better day in any way!

  1. Gorgeous, gorgeous photos! You make me miss the south, which I thought was not possible. Just perfect.

  2. Hmmm… perhaps our next detour to Missouri should be in the deep south! (That might top our 16-hour drive through Kansas! :)) Sounds fantastic.
