Underwood Farms: Somis Location

I’ve only been to Underwood Family Farms at Halloween time to pick pumpkins.  But I had never been to their smaller farm in Somis.  It was so nice!  The weather was pleasant and the berries were ripe.  We were on the late side for blueberries, so there wasn’t much to speak of.  But the strawberries!  Oh boy.

Stevie insisted on eating them straight off the vine – dirt, bugs and all.  But I didn’t anticipate that he would eat the stems too!  I guess the green parts could be good fiber?  He ate until he didn’t want anymore.  Our feet and hands were dirty and we were sweaty and proud, picking the most perfect berries for our basket. Bright red and juicy.

They are wrapping up their blueberry season as we speak, but July will have a bunch of good stuff too.  If the weather permits, maybe we’ll go again!

  1. Let us know when you go to pick blueberries and we can bring Thomas and the boys can play, get messy and turn blue. I had the pleasure of seeing Stevie yesterday and he’s looking good! And he’s growing up and doing so well (he showed me his car, gave me a high five and I got a hug!). Like I always say, you are just as lucky to have Stevie as a child as he is lucky to have you and Paul for parents. I know it is a lot of hard work, but all I saw yesterday was lots of positives all around… I am so optimistic for Stevie’s future!
