If any of these items are old or no longer available, I have linked to something similar at a similar price point.  Starred (*) items are things I bought recently.  I spent just under $200 for the new items.

Wow.  I really crammed it all in there, didn’t I?  48 pieces this time.  Actually, 49!  Because I missed a pair of pants in the graphic and I was not about to do that thing over.  You’ll see the pants in an outfit post soon anyway.

So 49.  It was more than I was planning on having.  And I’ll be honest, I don’t feel totally confident going into Summer.  Just when I think I have this capsule thing down, I start questioning myself.  Isn’t summer about less?  Am I really going to wear that many dresses?  Should I have narrowed down the shorts?  And what’s with those platforms??  I mean, those really came out of left field, right?  I was not planning on getting excited over anything like that!

Then on top of it all, there are still a couple more things I want that I just haven’t found yet (hello wide leg denim!)  And a couple things I love but didn’t put in because the number was just getting too high (hello floral jumpsuit!) So I have an inner battle going over that stuff.

I pulled most of the items from storage – not because I needed them – but because I’m wanting to wear them.  I’m hoping I will.  A lot of these have been tucked away for a whole year, so if they don’t get some use, they gotta hit the bricks.  Maybe this is my way of giving them one last second chance.  Or maybe this will be their impending doom.

So dramatic for a capsule wardrobe post.

But anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is that I feel a bit all over the place.  A lot of the right elements are there, but it just doesn’t feel complete or cohesive to me.  And isn’t it funny how my clothes are coinciding with my life right now…  Stevie’s upcoming eye surgery (Monday! Ack!) and changes to his schedule have me feeling a bit out of sorts I think.

But you know what?  Here’s where I will start.  I can always make adjustments as I go. I will say I’m pretty excited about those Tevas though!

What are you most excited to wear this summer?

  1. This is very different from the last one! Less of a 70’s vibe and more of a beach vibe. Looking forward to seeing your looks!

    1. I know right? My wish list didn’t match what was in my storage :/

  2. Great to see your summer capsule. Is this your second summer capsule? I’m on to my final seasonal capsule this season (winter for me) so am really interested to see what the second year of each capsule will be like. Summer is definitely my hardest season! Hey Jaana, what programme do you use to do your visual above with all your clothes? I love the idea of seeing all of mine in one picture. I’m use Stylebook to record my outfits but it doesn’t have this one shot view.

    1. This is my second, but last summer I think I had 60+ items, I was just sort of warming up to the idea. For this graphic, I use photoshop. It’s really time consuming, but I don’t know any other way to do it! 🙂

  3. You do not disappoint! So many little gems tucked in with the basics that will give your looks a boost. Loving the wide leg chambray pants and some of the funkier shoe choices.
I’m also on the look for some wide leg denim that lightweight. With maybe some front pockets or something fun. I had some about 2 decades ago, I had Birks then too, guess mom was right when she said I should hang on to some things!

    1. Let me know if you find a good wide leg denim! 🙂

      1. I have some AG flares coming in today, most wide leg I see are also cropped-so I may be going the flare route. Madewell’s flea market flare looks interesting too. Anything that might lengthen the body line.
