Summer Style Resolutions

June.  Really?

This past year kinda felt like a never-ending summer, only because it never seemed to cool off here in Southern California.  The rest of the country was in a polar vortex all winter and we were sweating our buns off.

But besides the weather, that summer feeling is starting to roll around again.  For me, that means I crave to be near the water.  I want to eat from the grill and take road trips.  And most of all, it means there’s a sense of sweet, sweet freedom.  It’s a feeling that is hard to find when you’re busy and it always goes to soon.  So this year, before the summer is over, I have made up my mind.

  1. More dresses.
  2. Less make-up.
  3. More bare feet.
  4. Naps.
  5. Less worry.
  6. Find a summer hat that looks good with short hair.
  7. More popsicles.
  8. Find joy in the small things.
  9. More flowers.
  10. Museum days.
  11. Sweat often.
  12. Swim as much as possible.
  13. Read at least 2 books.
  14. Picnics.
  15. Loud (ish) music.  I’m old, remember.

Sounds easy enough.  Let’s get started, shall we?

  1. Great list! You’ve inspired me to get my own summer list going, the one that swirls in my head all day. Mine includes more Farmer’s Markets, consuming more water, longer evening walks.

  2. I love the book idea! You know, for years I could NOT remember the last book I had read in its entirety. Sad, huh. So, at the local library I went to their “Friends of the Library” section and found “The Lovely Bones” for $1! I read the entire thing in like 5 days. 🙂 Let me know what book you choose. Maybe we can have a mini book club?

    1. The first one is This Lovely Life, but I’m halfway thru (in 3 days). I’ll let you know the next one!
