Upstyle with the Everlane Poplin Shirt, a Saga

This Everlane shirt again, huh?

Well, I have to tell you – the shirt and I have been through some stuff.

Before I even wore the darn thing, I nearly ruined it with the iron.  I was trying to steam it, but our iron is old and dirty and I just ended up squirting yellow gunk all over this pretty, crisp, white shirt.  I oxi-cleaned and washed  it first — which helped, but you could still see the outline of the yellow stains.  I poured detergent directly on it and washed it again — which left the shirt a little blue looking.  Lastly I used some bleach and water to scrub and washed it one last time — which seemed to do the trick.  I took the shirt outside to inspect it in the good daylight, and dropped it in the dirt.

Oh.  My.  Lord.

White may be my favorite summer color, but it’s definitely not meant for dummies like me.

And the tale doesn’t end there, my friends.  After I cleaned off the dirt, I was determined to actually wear the thing.  So I made it through a cup of coffee unscathed.  And then as Stevie and I were running errands, I reached from the front seat to the back seat to unbuckle Stevie’s seat belt and heard a riiiiipppp.  I panicked, but couldn’t find anything at first.  Then I saw it.  A big ol’ hole right in the armpit.

I may have yelled out an expletive.

Stevie laughed and laughed and kept saying “Mom!  You rip your shirt!” whenever he got the chance.

I contacted Everlane and begged and pleaded for an exchange because I love the shirt, but I just got it and wanted to enjoy it more than 2 hours.  They were super duper accommodating.  Sent me a new one immediately.  Said I could either send back the one that had ripped, or I could get it fixed and they would reimburse me for the seamstress costs.  WHAT!

Talk about good customer service!!! They just got a customer for life.  And I went and got myself a real steamer.  After all, now I have 2 shirts to not ruin.  So much pressure.

Working from home easily upstyled with a fanny pack and sandals.

top: everlane // jeans: thrifted // sandals: old from nordie rack (better option) // fanny pack: hustleandhide // watch: arvo

  1. Totally unrelated to your wardrobe mishap (can totally relate, I basically own no unstained items of clothing, sigh), but: I’m super curious about your desk chair and that mug on the desk! I know, random. But I’ve been looking for a mug with a lid just like that, and that desk chair looks SUPER comfy…

    1. Hey Kimithy! The chair is from IKEA. It’s the Henriksdal with an old gray cover. And the mug actually came with our NutriBullet, but you can buy the replacement cups with a variety of lids on Amazon. Good little mug 🙂

    2. The desk chair is from IKEA – the Henriksdal – and the mug is just from the NutriBullet. You can buy them separately on Amazon, I think! 🙂
