Around Here Lately

I have been so terrible about toting my camera around and, in turn, terrible about updating our goings-on around here.  But of course we’ve kept plenty busy over the last couple months.  If you follow along on Instagram, you’ve probably seen these, so move along.  Or look again if you feel like it.

Before it got so hot, we took a few Sunday family bike rides.  I always feel like a kid while I’m riding – the wind against my face and sometimes going a little too fast so I scare myself and spending some quiet, enjoyable time with my boys.  Aaahhh, I enjoy it immensely.stevie fan club, around here

We were invited by some friends to the Santa Barbara Zoo.  I liked feeding the giraffe most.  Stevie loved climbing and sliding down this hill.stevie fan club, around here

I took Stevie by the new West Coast Customs shop.  It’s like a little car museum!  He loved it.  Until the end, when I refused to buy him a $13 Hot Wheels.stevie fan club, around here

Indoor playgrounds.  They’re the new PARK for Stevie.  He is totally obsessed right now.stevie fan club, around here
Just a cute pic of my favorite kid!  Sitting still.  A miracle in itself.stevie fan club, around here

Stevie just learned to kiss with his mouth closed!  For the longest time, we have tried to teach him, but we always ended up just kissing his top lip or his nose.  The other day, Paul asked him to close his mouth and he did it!  All of a sudden!  This is his sad little pucker.  We are getting as many hugs and kisses as we can to make up for lost time.stevie fan club, around here
Stevie took his first trip to the movie theater!  We were so excited!  I explained to him how it all worked and what to expect.  Then we bought him the biggest bag of fruit snacks known to man.  We skipped the previews and sat down just in time.  He ate all the fruit snacks in about 20 minutes and then wanted to leave.  Oh well.stevie fan club, around here
We are trying a new reward for Stevie’s good behavior.  Stevie does chores, earns quarters and can use those quarters to buy cars (or whatever he wants – but it’s always cars).  The first week, it worked really, really well!  We got him to help clean up the house and then I even got him to try some new activities that he normally would refuse. And he was so proud of himself, it was awesome. The second week, it wasn’t quite as successful.  We’ll keep it up a little longer and see if we can get some more good days out of him before the novelty wears off completely.  stevie fan club, around here
We’ve had a few non-Stevie activities too.  A few nights out with friends and a couple date nights here and there.  I almost forgot how to talk to adults, so we have to keep these up.
