Black Cutoff Shorts

We have had two monumental days in a row here! Yesterday, we took a little family drive to the border of Santa Monica/Venica and had a picnic lunch at the beach. Not ON the beach, but a little park NEAR the beach. The weather was absolutely to die for, and it felt so nice to be out and people-watch from a safe distance. I fear how easy it has been for me to adapt to staying away from people. I rather enjoy it. Now today, we are heading to Children’s Hospital for Stevie’s annual eye appointment. This doesn’t feel as monumental in a fun way (and I actually tried rescheduling to get out of it) but the hospital assured me they’ve been able to keep all their appointments, and it’s perfectly safe. So off we go!

outfit notes

Ah, one of my favorite color schemes has always been black on black on black. But lately I love to tie in shades of brown to brighten up the look and take the edge off just a bit. These cutoff shorts are from — you guessed it — Everlane. And I wish I didn’t love them so much. I really do. But I haven’t found another pair that comes close to what I’m looking for. The perfect length and the slouchy fit are all I ever want in a cutoff short and they’re very hard to find for whatever reason. These fit TTS, but can be sized down for a more fitted silhouette.

allyship notes

If you enjoyed this simple video on systemic racism, then you’re gonna LOVE Phil Vischer’s take. He goes into a lot more detail and explains how both republican and democrat bills/laws have hurt Black people and families through the years. It’s so important to look at the data and know this history (some of it is more current than you think!) so that we are not doomed to repeat our mistakes.
