Just wanted to check in and quickly review the Everlane Relaxed Linen Shirt. I’ve had mine since 2016 (when it used to fit much looser!) and it’s been a favorite for so many years. It hasn’t shown many signs of wear yet, other than not being it’s brightest white anymore. But I was ready to get the next size up. I had planned to purchase it when my #spendfreesummer was complete. So when Everlane offered to send me one as part of their “best sellers” campaign, I was happy to oblige!
The most common question I get is in regards to wrinkles. It wrinkles. It does. I know some people won’t wear linen for that reason, but to me it’s part of the charm. A little rumpled linen just gives off the most romantic summer vibrations. Sometimes major wrinkles can be avoided with very, very high quality linen, but most retail grade linen is a wrinkle-magnet. I usually give it a quick iron, and then run it through the dryer so it’s not *too* crisp. And it gets more and more wrinkled through the day. I can’t hate it! The new shirt is considerably more rigid than the old one, so I think it’s safe to say the linen gets better with time.
Another question I got was whether or not the shirt is see-through. I would consider this a lightweight linen, so it is a tiny bit sheer. I normally wear a nude bra underneath, which doesn’t show at all. But I definitely don’t need any additional layers or an undershirt to hide anything. I also kind of like black undergarments that show through a little bit (I’m so risky!) so take my advice with a grain of salt.
Around here, linen can be worn year-round. I know that’s not the case everywhere, but it’s such a staple piece, I think it looks cute with some light layers for moderately cooler weather as well. On IG stories, I styled the shirt a few different ways for Summer and heading into Fall. (Or “fantasy fall” for me, because it’ll only get hotter over the next couple months).
