Secondhand Shopping Burbank: Slone Vintage

I have been falling a bit behind on my vintage shopping report!  For a few reasons…  1) lack of time.  2) I set some goals for myself to not spend money — and the best way to do that is NOT GO SHOPPING, duh.  3) I have a bunch of items to sell before I acquire anything else.  Now just because I’m scouting spots for you all does not mean I have to spend money, but it’s hard when the places are as cute as this!

WHAT ELSE IS NEARBY:

Porto’s is about 4 blocks away and worthwhile if you’re visiting any of the shops in this area.  It’s a really fantastic Cuban bakery and I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve ordered.  Some of my favorites include the potato balls, the empanadas, the cheese rolls, the southwest salad, the cubano sandwich, and … wow I could go on.  The line will throw you for a loop, but it moves pretty quickly.  It’s delicious and reasonably priced to boot.

WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE:

Women’s formal and casual styles from the 1940’s to the 1990’s (most seemed to be from the 50’s and 60’s).  There are also hats, bags, jewelry, and a few really cute housewares. A handful of non-vintage items that still work with the aesthetic, plus THIS AWESOME DRESS pictured below.  It was honestly the only thing that fit me perfectly, and of course the most completely impractical article of clothing I’ve ever worn.  But I secretly loved it.

PRICES:

Prices seemed pretty standard for vintage.  I didn’t think anything was priced particularly low or outrageously high, and most items ran between $40-70.

CHECK IT OUT IF:

You like true vintage and a quiet shopping experience.  Be prepared to try items on, and know your rough measurements to find your sizing.  There was a dressing room (but no mirror inside) so I only stepped out to snap a photo when something actually fit.  While it was a really small shop, I felt I could browse for quite some time to try and catch all the little details.

Don’t forget to pop over to The Capsule Closet for Lo’s peek into the secondhand stores in the heart of LA.  So far, she’s visited Reformation VintageJet RagCrossroads Melrose, American Superior Vintage, Wasteland, and American Rebel.  Plus she’s got a crazy cool map of vintage shops in her area and some of the ethical stores along her route.  You can find that by clicking here!
