Styling Session: Tunic Sweater

Why does blogging feel really hard again all of a sudden? Maybe I have run out of things to say finally. LOL nah. I think I’m just bored with my clothes. I’ve been remixing outfits since May! But the good news is I’m working on my F/W capsule so maybe that will energize my styling again. You can see the start of my inventory here. Just have to wait until the weather cooperates to actually wear anything. (Hopefully that will be pre-November!)

I did finally get around to sharing some styling ideas for a tunic sweater that was gifted to me from Able, a responsible brand out of Nashville. I was pleased with the outfits I came up with, though making the video was a struggle! I’m so rusty on camera! Sheesh. But I’ll share the looks for you here and if you want to see the video, you can head to my Instagram.

The tunic sweater works great with leggings, because it’s long enough to cover your bum but still lends itself to a tuck if you feel comfortable not being fully covered up. The heavy knit fabric is a nice contrast to a slim legging. If I had to run out for an errand or to take Stevie to the park or something, I’d throw on the jacket and shoes. And big earrings of course!

When I actually had places to be, a black-on-black outfit with a white sneaker was always a favorite — and often repeated — outfit. It always makes me feel edgy! The white shoes seem a bit rebellious in away, and topped with a leather jacket, you can’t really go wrong. But this type of base outfit can go so many different directions too. You could switch out the leather jacket for a trench coat and swap the shoes for doc martens or loafers. It would change the look completely without having to change your clothes.

LOOK 3

This one may be my favorite outfit of the bunch. It’s super simple, but felt very pulled together. The sweater, while thicker and longer than most of my other sweaters, is still cut well enough that it easily front tucks into a good pair of jeans. Finishing the look with layered necklaces and cute printed loafers was just the perfect blend of easy and chic. I am already planning on wearing this to Stevie’s next doctor appointment — in November. LOL.

This is such a fun outfit. I always like to try and include a little dressier look, just because I don’t get to dress up enough. I really enjoyed experimenting with ways to get this sweater to work with the skirt. And my favorite turned out to be tucking the sweater in a clever way! Something I have never tried before, but it totally worked. As I folded the sweater up to the length I wanted, I noticed the hem sort of gravitated to the bra area, so I thought why not? I tucked the front of the sweater right into my bra and the back of the sweater into the elastic of the skirt. It left a really beautiful drape and just looks like a cropped or tucked in sweater. Made me excited to see it could be so versatile!

  1. Jaana, I think *everything* feels hard at the moment! I am a long-lurking reader and wanted to say how much I enjoy your posts and your style. I appreciate the effort you put in and the great ideas you give this not-naturally-stylish person. Thank you!
