Vetta Capsule Boyfriend Shirt

So, as you might remember from this post, I added a few items to my wardrobe over the past month. I wrestled with whether to officially include them in my summer capsule, or to just wait until Fall to bust them out. The loungewear has already been worn lots, so that’s in. But I almost see that as a separate genre of clothing, not something I wear when I’m “getting ready”.

I’m also keeping in mind that August through October are actually the warmest months in Los Angeles. And, since I started this capsule in May, that “second summer” might be the right time for a little refresh. So I think for now, through the end of the month, I’m going to keep going with the 37 pieces I originally picked. This doesn’t mean I won’t change my mind in the coming weeks, but that’s the beauty of a capsule. The rules are whatever you want them to be. And going back to a capsule FOR ME was simply about wearing what I have as much as I possibly could.

Now all that to say, I might bring my old white Tevas into the mix! I have had these for years and must have missed the memo that they’d be all the rage this summer. I didn’t originally include them in my capsule because I felt they’d be redundant with my white slides. But over the months I’ve come to realize that I don’t wear the white slides out and about as much as around the house. I also feel today’s outfit would’ve been perfect for Tevas. So it seems like a good time to add them in or switch them out with another pair that’s not getting worn as much. Your capsule, your rules baby!

outfit notes

This Boyfriend Shirt is finally making it’s first appearance on the blog! It’s a shirt that was on my wishlist for quite some time, and I was able to find it secondhand earlier this year — but it’s actually back in stock directly from Vetta too! I’ve only worn it once this summer (undocumented), and I think the tencel fabric is a little too warm for hotter days, which we have plenty of. Luckily today, with milder temperatures, it was totally comfortable. I think it will transition well into other seasons too.

As with most button-up shirts, I love that it can be styled multiple ways (tucked, tied, unbuttoned). And if you want the pretty “V” and buttons down the back, it can even be worn backwards. I’m in a size down from my normal, and I would say it runs large. Also be aware that the V is rather deep. It’s a feature that I personally like, but might be a little uncomfortable for some. A little cami would look cute underneath for extra coverage if necessary.

allyship notes

Did you know that before Central Park in NYC was a park, there was an area of landscape called Seneca Village that was a thriving, predominantly Black community? I recently found out myself, and I can’t help but wonder, when I read stories like this; how different things could have been if Black families had been encouraged to own property, rather than constantly being pushed out of their neighborhoods.
