A Jumpsuit for Summer and Beyond

Add jumpsuits to the list of things that I can’t get enough of. I used to practically buy them in bulk! I’ve changed my habits there, but I like to think I was an early adapter of jumpsuits and rompers. Embracing those toddler vibes the first chance I got. I’ve owned many over the years, learning what I like and don’t like about them. My favorite part is that they look like a complete outfit, with virtually no effort or planning. I’m not one to argue against simplicity. Slip on some slides or sneakers and you’re good to go!

I also like when they’re versatile. Maybe that means they can be easily layered in cooler weather. Or maybe that means they can be easily dressed up or down. The best jumpsuits will be stylish for any occasion; with the right shoes, of course. I’ve learned they tend to feel best on me with a looser fit, and I have rules to obtain minimal fussiness. I actually made a vow about 2 years ago that I wouldn’t buy anymore jumpsuits with buttons down the front. I’ve just had way too many close calls in the loo. Belts and weird necklines are a no-go too. I can’t help it, I just don’t like fussy things! The goal with a jumpsuit is to keep things simple, not make them harder.

So, now that you’ve had a peek at my jumpsuit rule book, you have permission to laugh when I show you my newest jumpsuit for summer.

Outfit details

This jumpsuit is from Everlane. It’s made of my favorite linen, fits TTS — but maybe size up for a larger chest — and it comes in this one glorious color. YES, those are buttons and a belt you see. Right up front. But let me explaaaaain. The buttons are functional (hooray for nursing mamas!) but there is also elastic in the back, which means I am able to simply pull the jumpsuit up and down, no buttoning required. Another thing I like about it is the adjustable straps. You can adjust the length, as well as wear them criss-cross in the back. Hooray versatility! The fit is just loose enough without overdoing it. That means I can add a layer underneath when the temps cool off. And the belt… well, it’s a belt. We can’t have everything.

One quality note I’d like to include is I had an issue with there being a gap between the 2nd and 3rd buttons. The jumpsuit isn’t tight AT ALL, and it’s not like you can really even see anything, but it just pops open a little bit and kinda bugs me. That’s the only thing about it that makes the fit seem unpolished. Well, it wrinkles too, but I happen to like rumpled linen. Anyhoo, since I don’t need to use the buttons, I plan on putting a snap/pin in there to keep it more secure.

I debated back and forth about keeping this one (you can see what my brain goes through in my story highlights), but ultimately decided I was just excited to wear it and felt good enough in it that I wanted to wear it lots more. I’ve only had it a week, and this is my 3rd time, if that’s any indication!
