The Highest High Rise Jeans of All

High rise jeans during quarantine? Ew, what am I trying to prove?? It’s okay guys, they’re stretchy! Admittedly not as stretchy as leggings, which I have been wearing A LOT of lately. But just stretchy enough to justify squeezing my butt into them.

The nice weather this morning had me feeling a little excited to be reunited with my jeans for the first time in like 2 months. Denim has always been my love language. So why do they have to be so hard to shop for?? It can be really, really tricky to find the right fit, which can really, really mess with your head. Anyone who has already sworn off jeans: I SEE YOU. AND I UNDERSTAND.

I, on the other hand, can’t quit them. But not all high-rise jeans are created equal. Some of them are so high and tight that they actually dig into my rib cage and it hurts! Nobody needs that in their life, that’s for sure. So to minimize my risk of failure with these, I ordered 3 of them in different sizes to try on before deciding. Covering all the bases! Turns out, my regular size would’ve been fine. I love that these particular high rise jeans give off the look of vintage denim — which is my absolute favorite (and unfortunately even harder to find in times of lockdown). The button fly and 12″ rise add to that vintage feel. And with my preferred inseam of 27″, along with 1% elastane for comfort, they were great right out the gate.

The outfit

I don’t actually think these jeans look amazing with everything, however a blousy top with a full tuck was screaming breezy summer vibes. And I like that the tuck accentuates my waist. It feels effortlessly polished, which is something I’m trying to accomplish more often. The top is actually one I’ve had for a few years, but I recently decided to dye it from a blue/white floral pattern to this black/grey. It’s given the blouse new life and I’m really happy to be wearing it again. As for the necklaces, you’ll see a lot of them because I rarely take them off. Sentimental pieces, FTW!

And there we have outfit number one from my summer capsule wardrobe. Summer is not my favorite time to get dressed, but I’m hoping to showcase a few of my favorite outfits this season. Mostly to remind myself that I have enough and can make it work.

  1. I love the contrast of the dark shirt and the light jeans! And I also like the cute shirt + casual shoes. Always rocking your looks J. xx

  2. I wore my Levi’s rib cage jeans all day yesterday! Mine have no stretch at all but after wearing them (*checks notes*) only 14 times, they’re the most comfortable jeans in my closet. Love them.
