White Shorts

Boy oh boy, what a couple weeks it’s been! Besides all the energy out in the world, in our little bubble we jumped head first into summer school last Monday — and it has been more work than regular school was! I know they’re trying to keep the kids busy, and I appreciate all the work the teachers have put in doing that. We have nothing else going on, so there’s really no reason to think it’s hard. But it’s hard. We’re all tired. We’ll be done in 3 and 1/2 weeks and then we’ll be tired of doing something else.

outfit notes

Normally, I would front tuck the hell outta this shirt (or at least tie it), but I just discovered hole on the right butt cheek of my white shorts. It’s not big, but it’s enough that I felt I should hide it. Yay for longer shirts and maximum booty coverage! I think I accidentally bleached these too much, which has made the fibers weaker. Since I have already expressed that I’m on the fence with these shorts anyway, I’m going to start looking for a new pair of white shorts that are a little more practical. I’m leaning toward something more like this. They might look a little ridic — white bottoms for me seem to be really challenging — but worth a shot.

allyship notes

This video is intense, and so important. I had never heard of the things that Kimberly referenced — like Black Wall Street in Tulsa. So watching it compelled me to dig a little deeper and I get a gut-punch of a history lesson. It explains in the simplest of terms, like a game of Monopoly, how and why Black oppression and the financial gap still exists.
