30 Wears

From the looks of my Instagram, and how often I reach for this secondhand sweater, I would guess I’ve worn it at least 10-12 times in the 4 months since I started my capsule. It’s definitely a favorite, and one that I think I wear “all the time”. But looking at my wardrobe tracker shows me the truth — this is only my 6th time wearing it. Out of 85 days! When you really start paying attention, you see how long it actually takes to reach 30 wears on any given item. I always use that number as a barometer for buying something new, but it’s very rare that I ever reach the goal and wear something 30 times. It takes a really long time — years even! And the more clothes you have, the longer it will take. I’ve been tracking my wardrobe going on 3 years, and have only hit that mark with roughly 5 items. So there is something satisfying about the capsule, because my tallies are confined to this smaller section of my wardrobe and it’s satisfying to watch the wears add up.

outfit notes

We already know I love the sweater, but have I told you about these pants? Let’s talk about the reasons I love them. The craftsmanship is excellent, so it ranks high points for quality. It’s made of a beautiful and sturdy linen (my fave). Plus it has an adjustable waist. So I’ve owned them for 2 years and they’ve fit me at my lowest weight, as well as my highest, and everything in between. When we talk about investment pieces, this one hits all the marks. A little more expensive than a regular pant, but they have the potential to last such a long time, your cost per wear makes it so worthwhile.

allyship notes

I’m sure by now, we can all see why it’s harmful to say things like “all lives matter” and “I don’t see color” (my mantra when I was younger). If you’re still confused about the implications — or maybe have family members who are — I thought this graphic had some key takeaways.
